Internal audit is essential for any organization seeking accreditation or certification. This workshop aimed to present the concept of internal audit via the international standard on management system auditing, ISO 19011, and a review of its basic principles.
It covered various aspects of the methodology (audit notification and requests, preparing for the audit with an audit plan, performing the audit, the opening meeting, conducting interviews, the closing meeting and drafting a report). Exercises were then organized to allow participants to put theory into practice.
The roles of auditor/auditee were discussed, looking especially at both know-how and soft skills (kindness, neutrality, impartiality) for this key activity. Participants also had an opportunity to observe and apply what they learned in the field.
